County Property Taxes Due Today, Delinquent After May 11
COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County officials advise property owners that the second-half installment of 2019 property tax bills are due today, Friday April 10, and will be considered delinquent after Monday, May 11.
While the County does not accept credit cards for tax payments, property owners can submit a check or money order one of three ways:
- Mailed to Los Alamos County at P.O. Box 99, Los Alamos, NM 87544
- Left in the dropbox in the Municipal Building parking lot, 1000 Central Avenue, Los Alamos
- Delivered to a teller through the drive through services at either the Los Alamos or White Rock branches
In-Person Attendance Prohibited At BPU Meeting

Public in-person attendance at the April 15 Board of Public Utilities (BPU) meeting continues to be prohibited in accordance with the New Mexico Governor’s COVID-19 Executive Order 2020-022 and the New Mexico Department of Health Public Health Order amendments issued April 6.
Officials with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) encourage citizens to live-stream the meeting and submit public comment via email.

DPU Crews Repairing Water Break In Eastern Area

UPDATE: The waterline repair is completed and water has been restored to all customers.

A water break in the Eastern Area neighborhood of Los Alamos has resulted in the loss of water services to customers in the area bounded by Kiva and Myrtle between 4th Street and 6th Street.
Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities water crews are making repairs and anticipate by 5 p.m. today that water services will be restored.

The 2020 Census began in earnest April 1, Census Day.
New Mexico Dist. 43 Rep. Christine Chandler, whose district includes Los Alamos, is concerned that citizens may not be taking the census seriously enough.
“This only happens every 10 years,” Chandler said. “It’s a really big deal. There must be a push to get everyone counted.”

The cumulative number of COVID-19 positive tests in New Mexico and Bernalillo, Sandoval and Santa Fe Counties as of April 8. Note that the Sandoval data is plotted against the right hand axis. Los Alamos Police Solve Recent Quemazon Burglary
LAPD News:
The Los Alamos Police Department has announced that one burglary April 1 in the Quemazon area was solved Tuesday as a result from work done by the LAPD Criminal Investigations Section and assistance from the Community.
Three Juveniles will have charges forwarded to the Office of Juvenile Probation and Parole in connection with this crime.
All property associated with this case has been returned to the victim.
