New Mexico COVID-19 Cases At 1,711 With 7 New Deaths
STATE News:
SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced this afternoon 115 additional positive tests for COVID-19.
The number of positive tests for COVID-19 in Los Alamos County remains at 6.
The update today also includes seven additional deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
Per the New Mexico Department of Health, the most recent cases announced today include:
- 24 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 2 new cases in Chaves County
- 2 new cases in Cibola County
- 1 new case in Colfax County
- 7 new cases in Doña Ana County
- 2 new cases in Eddy County
- 1 new case in Grant County
- 51 new cases in McKinley
County Fair & Rodeo Queen’s Court Competition Update

The annual Los Alamos County Fair and Rodeo Queen’s Court competition has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 20.
The Queen’s Competition is a long-standing Los Alamos County tradition, which selects young women with an equestrian background and people skills to represent Los Alamos County all summer in promoting the Los Alamos County Fair and Rodeo locally and regionally.
Interested candidates must be a Los Alamos County resident, or attend the Los Alamos Public Schools, and must be between the ages of 10 and 25 by Sept. 1, 2020.

DP Road Infrastructure Work Resumes Next Week For New Housing Start Up; Residents May See Construction Activity
COUNTY News:
Motorists traveling on DP Road next week will notice an increase in construction activity as geotechnical testing near the roadway begins for property that will become housing for seniors known as “The Bluffs,” the second housing project moving forward from Bethel Development, Inc.
Workers core-drilling various locations in order to extract soil samples on the property on the southwestern edge of DP Road will be visible to the public. The sampling is a standard pre-construction activity for soils testing and analysis prior to building homes.

Los Alamos Police Seek Information On Stolen 3-D Printer To Potentially Solve Several Recent Burglaries In White Rock

The Los Alamos Police Department is seeking information from the public to potentially solve several White Rock burglaries.
Since April 1,
LAPD is asking the question, “Since April 1 – is someone you know in possession of a new-to-them 3D printer?”
During the recent string of burglaries in White Rock, an Ender Model 3Pro 3-D printer was taken by at least five juveniles.
Locating this printer would provide LAPD Investigations with a valuable lead.

LAPD Issues Scam Alert:
Los Alamos Police Det. Sgt. James Rodriguez warns Los Alamos residents of potential scams related to COVID-19, fake stimulus checks and phishing scams from agencies pretending to be the CDC or IRS.
Stimulus checks have been approved and many people may have already received phone calls, emails, texts or mail correspondence promising them to get their money faster or in an alternate unapproved way. This is a scam!

Los Alamos County Assessor Releases 2020 Property Valuation And Maintenance Plan; Set To Go To Council May 5

Los Alamos County Assessor Ken Milder released this afternoon the 2020 Property Valuation and Maintenance Plan to the County Council and public as part of his Fiscal Year 2021 budget request, pursuant to 7-36-16E NMSA 1978.
“Typically, this plan would be presented to the Council prior to annual budget hearings, but because of COVID-19, the pandemic forced a delay until after the hearings conclude,” Milder said.
The release of the Plan today was necessary in order to comply with the State statute.

New Mexico Public Health Office In Los Alamos Offering COVID-19 Testing Mondays & Wednesdays By Appointment
COUNTY News:
The New Mexico Public Health Office in Los Alamos has begun offering the COVID-19 test 10 a.m. to noon Mondays and 9-11 a.m. Wednesdays.
Note: Testing will take place in individual’s vehicles, similar to the drive-thru testing that was previously completed at Overlook Park in White Rock.
Individuals will not be going into the facility itself to get tested. Residents who want to be tested must call the office at 505.662.4038 to make an appointment. No walk ins will be accepted.
There is no cost for the test.

For several years, the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has hosted an annual water festival in April for Los Alamos fourth grade students that is planned and carried out by the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC).
