Los Alamos County’s housing survey will close Friday regarding housing needs and preferences. Those individuals who live and work in Los Alamos County are invited to take the survey. A priority Strategic Goal of Council and of the Economic Vitality Strategic Plan is to increase the amount and types of housing options in the County. Survey questions are designed to assess local housing needs. Responses will help the County plan for new housing over the next 10 years.

Los Alamos County: Census ‘Complete Count Committee’ Recruitment Now Open
COUNTY News:
The US Constitution mandates (Article 1, Section 2) that a headcount occur every 10 years of everyone residing in the 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas of the United States.
This includes people of all ages, races, ethnic groups, citizens and non-citizens. The population totals from the census determine the number of seats each state has in the House of Representatives.
States also use the totals to redraw their legislative and school districts.
The next census occurs in 2020.

DPU To Request Multi-Year Increases To Water And Sewer Rates At Public Hearing Oct. 16

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) will ask its board (the Board of Public Utilities) for multi-year increases to water and sewer rates at an Oct. 16 public hearing.

DPU Re-Activates Budget Billing In Los Alamos

Department of Public Utilities (DPU) officials announce that Los Alamos County utility customers can now sign up for Budget Billing.
Budget Billing was suspended in May 2018, so the County could transition to a new utility billing software and then accumulate 12 months of consumption data. The program is now activated again.

Crack Seal Project In White Rock Begins Monday

- Crack Seal Project in White Rock on Rover Boulevard, Grand Canyon Drive and Bryce Avenue starts 8:30 a,m. Monday
GM Emulsion will start crack sealing Monday, Sept. 16 beginning on Rover Boulevard at N.M. 4 and continue toward Grand Canyon Drive. They will continue down Grand Canyon Drive starting at N.M. 4 to Meadow Lane. They also will work on Bryce Avenue, starting at Rover Boulevard to Meadow Lane.

‘For The Animals’ Fundraiser At Smith’s Saturday

For the Animals, a local nonprofit organization, will hold a fundraiser beginning at 8 a.m., Saturday in front of Smith’s Marketplace in Los Alamos.
The fundraiser will sell gently used, low-cost dog jackets, cat carriers and miscellaneous pet supplies. The sale will continue until items sell out.
