LAPD 2019 Second Quarter Crime Statistics Show Los Alamos Remains Among Safest Communities In Nation

LAPD News:
 
Chief Sgambellone has released crime statistics for the second quarter of 2019, which were compiled by the Records Section of the Los Alamos Police Department.
 
Offenses reported as crime statistics are determined by the FBI Uniform Crime Report Program and are classified as crimes against persons (violent crime) and crimes against property.
 
The offenses of murder (homicide), manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault make up the violent crime category. Simple assault is not included in UCR. The offenses of arson, burglary, larceny, and auto theft

County Tree Trimming Underway In White Rock

COUNTY News:

Allied Tree Services, under contract with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, began this week trimming trees from around power lines on Meadow Lane and intersecting streets between Rover Boulevard to Overlook Park in White Rock.

Crews will work through this neighborhood until mid-August and then move to the Grand Canyon Drive area. 

According to DPU officials, the tree trimming effort is to reduce power outages by removing branches and trees that are either too close to power lines or pose a risk of falling on power lines.
