Letter To The Editor: Dist. 43 Candidate Christine Chandler Works Well With Others

By RICK REISS
Los Alamos County Councilor

As we reach the end of another campaign season, it has become uncommon for a candidate to demonstrate a simple characteristic that is lacking in politics in all levels of government. That characteristic is the ability to work well with others. Christine Chandler has stuck to the issues and never spoke divisively about other candidates.

Working well with others is a skill we need in government. With many opinions, it is important to have a representative that listens, explores alternatives to other opinions and does not denigrate them. I have come to know Read More

Letter To The Editor: Someone Needs To Correct Mischaracterizations Of County Tourism Plan … I Volunteer

By DAVE FOX
Los Alamos

Someone needs to correct mischaracterizations of the County tourism plan made by council candidate Brady Burke. I volunteer.

I volunteer to do that, having spent more than two years on that plan, working with one of the most conscientious planning groups (20-plus citizen volunteers) I’ve been a part in 39 years here in Los Alamos and in my 20 prior years as a marketing exec before moving here.

I also volunteer to correct what’s flat wrong, having founded an enduring business in Los Alamos, based on what are flat-out real-world realities. Don’t give me that other stuff. Please. Read More

Letter To The Editor: Sara Scott Well-qualified, Dedicated, Believes In This Community And Its Citizens

By LAURA BOHN
Los Alamos

Sara Scott is an excellent choice for Los Alamos County Council. She is keenly intelligent and remarkably capable while at the same time being approachable, down-to-earth, and very “user-friendly”.

These attributes have been demonstrated in her successful career at LANL and everything else she does from contract work, to home and service projects, to her current candidacy. Sara doesn’t do things halfway; when she takes on a project, she does thorough – but not belabored – analysis and planning, proceeds adeptly through implementation, and directs Read More

By SARA SCOTT
Democratic Candidate
Los Alamos County Council

I’d like to cap off the current election season with a heartfelt thank you to all of those who have shared their thoughts and ideas regarding our community – local businesses, community leaders, county staff, educators, volunteers, and the folks that have attended the local forums, my 10 Let’s Chat sessions, and spoken with me at their doors (more than 1,500 knocks and still at it).

It has been an incredibly positive experience and I feel so fortunate to be part of this amazing community.

If elected, I look forward to putting all Read More

Randall Ryti: Communication

By RANDALL RYTI
Democratic Candidate
Los Alamos County Council

The thing I have most enjoyed about my first campaign for public office is getting to meet citizens and hear firsthand their concerns about County government as well as areas where they think the County excels. I have talked to most people at their homes while walking the neighborhoods, but I have also met some folks for coffee and had a chance for longer conversations.

A conversation on an issue is a good way to more fully understand the problem and to have a dialogue on possible solutions. My opinion is that anyone running
