Utility Work On Quartz Begins Tuesday
COUNTY News:
Electric crews with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities will undertake a project to replace electric lines on Quartz Street to improve the neighborhood’s electric reliability.
Work is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Oct. 2 and continue through the beginning of January.
Through traffic along Quartz will be restricted during the day, Monday through Friday, with traffic detoured to Rim Road. Full access to Quartz will be restored by late afternoon as crews wrap up for the day.

La Senda, Pajarito Acres Microsealing Begins Friday

Starting Friday morning, construction crews will begin applying a microseal to all of the roadways in Pajarito Acres and La Senda in White Rock.
Weather allowing, crews anticipate this portion of the project to last 11 days and crews are planning to work 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., seven days a week.
Expect representatives from the contractor applying the coating to be visiting residents door to door leaving information including the proposed schedule, coordination instructions and contact information.

Department Of Public Utilities Including Customer Care Center Closed For Two Hours Thursday Morning

Due to an all-hands meeting for employees of the Department of Public Utilities, which includes Customer Care Center representatives, department officials advise that their offices will be closed for two hours, 8-10 a.m. Thursday, Sep. 27.

Members of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) had a day out in Los Alamos for a “secret city tour” Friday at the Los Alamos County Airport. The tour was part of the larger Regional AOPA Fly being held in Santa Fe at its airport. Thirty-three participants signed up and 12 planes arrived at the airport. Local pilots and Civil Air Patrol Cadets were on hand to direct traffic and aid with tie down. Council Considers Sewer Rate Increase Sept. 25

Officials with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) will request the Los Alamos County Council to approve a rate increase of 8 percent for sewage services.
The increase will help the DPU to establish sufficient revenue to sustain future debt service to replace the White Rock wastewater treatment plant while maintaining adequate funding for the entire wastewater collection and treatment system.
