Recycling: Quality Over Quantity
COUNTY News:
Environmental Services would like to remind residents to be mindful when separating their recyclables. It is important to avoid placing non-recyclables into the blue roll-cart or dumpster.
Contamination results in extra work for everyone down the recycling chain and if contamination is too excessive, it may lead to sending an entire load of recyclables collected to the landfill.
Recyclables from the blue roll-carts and blue dumpsters in Los Alamos are transported to Friedman Recycling in Albuquerque. Once there, the items are sorted and baled before being sold as secondary

County Administration Offices Closed Monday

County Administration offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 4 for the Labor Day Holiday.
Residents who typically have trash and recycling pick up on Monday should place roll carts at the curb on Wednesday instead.
Atomic City Transit buses will not be operating on Monday.

COUNTY News:
Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities is responding to a natural gas leak detected on Central Avenue across from the Municipal Building.
To repair the main, crews are closing the east bound lane on Central Avenue between Knecht Street and 9th Street. East bound traffic will be rerouted to Trinity Drive at Knecht Street.
Crews on scene indicate that repairs will continue into the evening and that the road will be open before Thursday morning. Read More
