LAPD Dispatch Non-emergency Phones Are Temporarily Unavailable During System Upgrade
UPDATE: Dispatch phones are back service.
LAPD News:
The Los Alamos Police Department Dispatch telephones (non-emergency number 505.662.8222) are temporarily unavailable while the phone system is moved over to a new UPS as part of a system upgrade.
Residents can call 505.412.2172 in the interim to reach Dispatch.
Phone service should be restored in approximately 30 minutes. Radios in Dispatch are not impacted. Read More

A special Republican Party of Los Alamos County Central Committee Meeting is being called for 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10 at UNM-LA, Bldg. 5, Jeannette Wallace Hall.

LAC News:Ashley Pond Concrete Replacement Begins Monday
COUNTY News:
Beginning Monday, July 31, crews will be replacing sections of cracked concrete sidewalk just west of the Ashley Pond Pavilion near the pond.
This warranty repair work is being performed at no additional cost to the County. Weather permitting, work is scheduled to be complete by Wednesday, Aug. 2.
Pedestrian access across this section of walkway will be limited for the duration. The public is advised to use caution when in the area and to stay alert for construction equipment and advisory signing.

The Los Alamos Fire Department and Los Alamos Police Department issued a joint statement today in response to media queries regarding the death of a young hiker Sunday evening in White Rock Canyon.
The hiker has been identified as Trevor Matuszak, 19, who was hiking with two friends in the area known as Hell’s Hole. Access to Hell’s Hole is at the south end of the cul de sac on Kimberly Lane in White Rock.
According to the accompanying hikers, Matuszak lost his footing in a steep portion of Hell’s Hole late Sunday afternoon and fell into the canyon. The area was too treacherous Read More
