KKOB Hosts Los Alamos Radio Day Friday

KKOB-AM, in cooperation with Los Alamos County, will host “Los Alamos Radio Day” 4-9 p.m. Friday, June 28 in conjunction with the Downtown Friday Night Series in Los Alamos.

KKOB-AM on-air personalities, Billy Cornelius and Scott Stigler, will host “Los Alamos Radio Day” at Ashley Pond, featuring six 10-minute segments with several Los Alamos officials.

Arbitrator Finds in Favor of Los Alamos County in Firefighter Dispute

COUNTY News:

An arbitrator has determined that Los Alamos County acted within its rights in terminating a firefighter who lost his security clearance at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Edwin Render delivered his opinion recently following a February hearing.

The Los Alamos Firefighters Association, Local 3279 initiated the arbitration under the terms of the association’s collective bargaining agreement with the County after the employee lost his security clearance for failing to comply with a request from LANL staff that he submit a urine sample as part of a random drug screening process. Local Fireworks Restrictions To Be Extended 30 Days

The Los Alamos County Fire Marshal has recommended that the fireworks restrictions continue in Los Alamos County for another 30 days, due to continued extremely dry conditions throughout the County.

The extension of the proclamation that would extend from June 24 through July 25, 2013 will go to County Council at its meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 25 in the new Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 1000 Central Ave.

PGA pro Donnie Torres will once again play golf most of the day to raise money for PGA youth golf programs. But this year, Torres has invited 12-year-old Sean Rau to play with him. Rau, who will be an eighth grader at Los Alamos Middle School in the fall, “loves golf and loves helping others,” his mom Karen Rau said.
