I was sad to learn of several arrests made this morning, June 18, that involved minors and drug trafficking charges. I appreciate the police department’s efforts to keep our students and community safe. We will continue to cooperate with the police department in any way we can to keep drugs out of our community. The community is invited to join Ranger Anthony Magdalena for a demonstration of traditional Pueblo Gardening 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 3 at Coronado Historic Site and Kuaua Pueblo, just minutes north of Albuquerque (off I-25, Exit 242) in Bernalillo at 485 Kuaua Road.

County Council To Hold Closed Session June 18, 2024

SANTA FE — The Department of Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico-Taos and the New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) have announced the UNM-Taos Printmaking Exhibition, a showcase by 24 artists who have studied under Associate Professor Gary Cook.

National KIDS COUNT Data Book Shows Improvement In New Mexico Child Poverty

ALBUQUERQUE — New Mexico has made improvements in lowering child poverty over the past decade, according to the national 2024 KIDS COUNT® Data Book, a 50-state annual report by the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

The Data Book, which analyzes how children and families are faring, was released Thursday by the Baltimore, MD-based foundation.

This year, the Data Book also includes information on adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and chronic absences.

New Mexico Enrollment Growth And Student Investment Continue To Outperform National Averages

SANTA FE — Statewide higher education enrollment in New Mexico continued to grow and was among the best in the United States, according to a national financial analysis of the 2022-2023 academic year, which highlighted the state’s Opportunity Scholarship as driving New Mexico’s higher education rebound.

Rio Arriba Adult Literacy Program Announces First Ever Storytelling Fundraiser Event June 29

RAALP News:

The Rio Arriba Adult Literacy Program (RAALP) will hold a storytelling fundraiser event, “The Story Starts Here: Empowering our Community Through Literacy” from 4-7 p.m., June 29 at the Los Lucero’s Historic Site in Velarde, NM.
