Child Evangelism Fellowship of Northern New Mexico is sponsoring Vacation Bible Schools and 5-Day Clubs June 25-July 26 in Los Alamos and surrounding area.
The schools and clubs listed below will be taught by trained Christian Youth in Action summer missionaries and feature Bible and Missionary Stories, Crafts, Scripture Memory, Songs, Snacks, Games and Prizes.

The First Born Program of Los Alamos (FBPLA) is excited to announce its 10th Anniversary Celebration 5:30-7:30 p.m., June 11, 2024 at the Central Park Square Lawn. The event will include cupcakes, giveaways, raffles and more. The whole community is invited to join in the fun.

Santa Fe Community College And Santa Fe Higher Education Center To Close In Honor Of Juneteenth

SANTA FE – Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) and the Santa Fe Higher Education Center will be closed Wednesday, June 19, in honor of Juneteenth.
No classes or activities will be held and no other student services will be available. The college’s early childhood development center, Kids Campus and the William C. Witter Fitness Education Center also will be closed.
All facilities will reopen and services will resume Thursday, June 20.

The K-Kids organization at Pinon Elementary School raised $400 for the Kiwanis African Library Project. Trystan Terrance Osburn of Los Alamos graduated from the United States Air Force Academy on May 30, 2024 in Colorado Springs. He is a 2020 graduate of Los Alamos High School.
Osburn earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force. He will begin pilot training at Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma in August.

Los Alamos High School 10th grader Helena Welch placed 3rd in Mathematics at the 2024 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Los Angeles.
She was awarded $1,000 for her project, “Virtually Reconstructing an Ancient Musical Instrument”. In addition, she received a special award of $500 from the American Mathematical Society. There were 61 countries represented and over 1600 participants.

The Los Alamos Public Schools Board of Education has selected Ryan Adams to fill the vacancy in District 2, which resulted from the resignation of former School Board President Antonio Jaurigue. District 2 includes Chamisa Elementary School in White Rock.
Adams will be sworn in at the start of the June 11 School Board meeting.
Board members cited Adams’ “fresh perspective and new eyes” as well as his experience in accounting as reasons for their selection. Adams is a relative newcomer to Los Alamos. He has children attending elementary, middle and high school.
