2022 Football 2-5A All-District Awards Announced
Below are the All-district awards for football this season.
The Los Alamos High School Hilltoppers had 10 selections on 1st team Offense, and 8 on 1st team defense.
Topper football won district for the first time since 2011. Teke Nieto also was selected to play in the NMHSCA All-Star game Dec. 3.
All-State awards will be released in the coming weeks.

Forty six Los Alamos High School (LAHS) band, choir, jazz and orchestra students have been selected to perform in the 2023 All-State Festival in January at Popejoy Hall at UNM in Albuquerque.
Students worked hard to prepare for a rigorous blind audition process by practicing scales, concert excerpts, advanced solos and sight-reading.

Los Alamos Public Schools wants to put folks in the driver’s seat. The LAPS Transportation Department is hiring bus drivers and substitute bus drivers. Training is available.
LAPS employees are eligible for PTO, medical, dental and vision coverage, life insurance, YMCA membership and a retirement plan. In addition, there are opportunities for continuing education and advancement. Substitutes are not eligible for benefits.

In our home, we have a framed letter written by a Civil War soldier to his mother. That letter has been passed down for generations in my mother-in-law‘s family. School Board Accepting Applications For District 5 Vacancy

The Los Alamos School Board is in search of a person to fill the vacancy left on the board with the departure of member Erin Green who represents District 5.
Green cited personal reasons for her resignation from the School Board, saying she is “deeply sad” to be leaving the School Board but that it is something she needs to do for herself and her family at this time.

Youth Mental Health First Aid, a five-hour training (plus 2 hours of pre-work) is designed to teach how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Attending this workshop were employees with the county, schools, and the library.

During its Nov. 8 meeting, members of the Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) Board voted 4-1 to adopt Plan D as the new voting redistricting boundaries for Los Alamos County.
Michael Sharp of Research & Polling, Inc. had presented the board with five options, which were then narrowed down to three.
