On the Job in Los Alamos is Los Alamos County Zero Waste Team member Katie Myers checking people into the drive-in movie, ‘Just Eat It’ Friday night at Central Park Square. The Los Alamos Women’s Day Class of Community Bible Study is excited to announce that the 2020-21 class year will begin the week of Sept. 14.
Usually each CBS class chooses which study it will complete during a class year, but to celebrate the 45th anniversary of this international ministry, the entire North American branch of CBS will be studying the Gospel of John. In 1975, the first Community Bible Study in Bethesda, Md., studied John.

To aid Los Alamos Public Schools in navigating through the pandemic, Los Alamos County Council unanimously approved to reimburse the school district $476,211 for the purchase of Edgenuity software as well as shade structures for outside instruction.
Council approved the reimbursement during its Tuesday night meeting.

The Los Alamos School Board has unanimously chosen Melanie Colgan to fill the District 4 seat vacated by Julia Baker.
Baker recused herself from the vote. She is moving to Spokane, Wash. to be closer to her family.

All Five Los Alamos Elementary Schools Transition To Hybrid Learning Model Beginning Monday Sept. 21

Earlier this evening (Thursday), the Los Alamos School Board unanimously voted to have all five elementary schools transition to the hybrid learning model beginning Monday Sept. 21.
The hybrid model consists of students physically attending school two days a week and working remotely three days a week.
Half of the students attend on Monday and Tuesday (green track) and the other half attend on Thursday and Friday (gold track).

Y Afterschool Program Gearing Up In Hybrid Manner

The Y’s Afterschool program has taken baby steps to bring back the “fun” for families and children in-step with Los Alamos Public School’s phased reopening plan.
The Y’s Childcare Coordinator Janine Morales said that once hybrid learning begins, the Y will provide afterschool care also in a hybrid manner.

ALBUQUERQUE — Attorney General Hector Balderas announced Wednesday the filing of multiple criminal charges against former Farmington Police Ofc. Zachary Christensen for multiple counts of battery and one count of felony child abuse.
