Scenes From Summer Reading Award Presentation
The summer school program held at Mountain Elementary School came to a close July 26. The closing ceremonies were highlighted by the presentation of the results of the reading program carried out all summer. Each book the students read to an adult would result in a $2 reward. At the time of completion the students received a $2 certificate for each book read. On the last day of classes, each student received a check made out to them for the amount they earned over the summer. State Farm Brings Aspen The Arson Dog To YMCA Summer Program At Mountain Elementary School
The YMCA summer program at Mountain Elementary School this summer got a real treat Thursday afternoon when Aspen the arson dog made an appearance. Aspen is trained to investigate fire scenes to find arson evidence. Aspen is in the area to attend a regional seminar at Buffalo Thunder for State Farm Insurance. State Farm, nationwide, pays training costs for arson dogs. There are about 380 active arson dogs in the U.S., each requiring about 300 hours of training. AG Balderas Announces Back To School Human Trafficking Awareness Training Aimed At Providing Educators With Tools To Save Lives

ALBUQUERQUE – Today, Attorney General Hector Balderas, in partnership with education leaders from around the state, announced training dates for the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office’s Back to School Human Trafficking Awareness and Incident Tool Response Training for School Personnel.
This training will help educators identify signs of possible human trafficking, and provide recommendations for how to respond to concerns about potential human trafficking cases.
