New Mexico children’s author and illustrator Ross Van Dusen, came to Pinon Elementary School Thursday to read his book titled “How the Crocka Dog Came to Be” to K-2nd graders. He engaged students with his lively, animated reading, demonstrated how to draw Crocka Dog (the main character), and then let students illustrate their own Crocka Dogs. The transition from elementary to middle school can be intimidating, but thanks to the Los Alamos Middle School team, sixth graders got the chance to become familiar with the ins and outs of their future school.

The Los Alamos High School Key Club is conducting a bake sale today and Saturday at Los Alamos National Bank to raise money for the Lupus Foundation.
 
The bake sale will run most of the day today and until noon Saturday.
 
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that affects more than 200,000 people a year within the United States. This sometimes devastating disease can include symptoms like fatigue, joint pain and abnormal blood clotting.

The Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Office confirmed today that two Española Valley High School students have been arrested after making the threat: “let’s shoot it”.
