New Mexicans With Disabilities Able To Take Advantage Of Investment Program Jan. 18

An opportunity for New Mexicans with disabilities to save is coming Jan. 18.
 
ABLE New Mexico will allow people with disabilities to contribute to an investment account without jeopardizing other benefits such as Social Security or Medicare. The program – administered by the State Treasurer’s Office – is launching Jan. 18.
 
ABLE New Mexico gives people with disabilities a path to financial independence by increasing their ability to save. All the earnings through the program are tax free.
 
Participants will be able to contribute up to $15,000 per year

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center’s (PEEC) popular summer program for 5 to 8 year olds is returning this season. Forest Explorers, a hike-and-play club, will take children on hikes 1-3 p.m. every other Wednesday, Jan. 17 through April 4 and give kids ample time for child-directed play in nature.

Acid Canyon is approximately 0.8 of a mile in length. The north side of Acid Canyon is relatively steep for its entire length. It has a nearly vertical drop of twenty feet at its start. The drop increases to nearly 200 feet at its end where it merges with Pueblo Canyon.
