LAPS News:- The decision to close school or delay the start of school will usually be made by 5:30 a.m.;
- Official announcements will be made via the media, district web page, LAPS School Messenger, the school district’s information line (505.663.2223), and each individual school line;
- LAPS will be coordinating with LANL and the County on all decisions about a delayed start, cancellation or early dismissal;

UNM-LA Offering FAFSA Workshop Sunday
UNM-LA News:
The University of New Mexico – Los Alamos (UNM-LA) is offering a workshop to assist students (and their families) in completing the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA), 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4.
The process and the deadlines of completing the FAFSA have changed and UNM-LA has planned this event to provide assistance. The workshop will be held in a computer lab in Building 6 on the UNM-LA campus, 4000 University Dr. Any community member who plans to file a FAFSA is welcome.

PED Releases District Report Card

The Pubic Education Department (PED) today released the District Report Card for last school year. The 2015-16 report summarizes student achievement, school board qualifications, educator quality, demographics, expenditures and parent satisfaction. Highlights for Los Alamos Public Schools include:
- High graduation rates and proficiency in reading and math that consistently outperform state averages;
- Enrollment growth and increased demographic diversity; and
- High levels of parent satisfaction on the Quality of Education Survey.

LALT Offers Class In Laban Method For Actors

Los Alamos Little Theatre will offer a workshop and master class for actors Sunday, Dec. at the Performing Arts Center, 1670 Nectar St., Los Alamos.
The workshop and class will focus on the Laban Method for Actors, based on the work of Rudolph Laban, described as a visionary, humanist, teacher, choreographer and theoretician whose revolutionary ideas bridged the gap between the performing arts and science.

A major, undeniable benefit to life in Los Alamos is the outstanding scenery and unspoiled flora and fauna surrounding the community. For more than 10 years, the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) has strived to educate, celebrate, preserve and explore these natural wonders.
