‘Jump for Joy’ Jump-o-thon to Raise Funds for LAHS Teacher’s Cancer Treatment
Joy HandsberryLos Alamos High School students will “Jump for Joy” (Joy Handsberry that is) from 7:30 a.m. Friday to 7:30 a.m. Saturday to raise funds for the Los Alamos High School math teacher’s chemotherapy treatment for ovarian cancer.
Students will jump around the clock in 1.5-hour shifts in a bouncy house set up on the lawn of LAHS. Chaperones will be on hand throughout the event, including the night shift. More than 40 students have signed up so far, event organizer Emma Lathrop said.

Community Discussion on Student Stress Thursday

When the community showing of the documentary, “A Race to Nowhere” took place in March, the organizer, Los Alamos High School student Tessa Snyder was thrilled with the turnout. The film deals with student stress.
“My goal was 100, so to have close to 200 was so exciting,” she said.

Today is the Los Alamos Youth Leadership’s 2014 Wild Day LA event at Los Alamos High School. LAYL hosts Wild Day LA once a year for Kindergarten through 6th grade students and includes art, outdoor activities, team challenges and spending time with youth mentors.
