Bandelier National Monument is beginning its free summer shuttle service to Frijoles Canyon on June 27, 2024.
The shuttle, provided by Atomic City Transit, boards at the White Rock Visitor Center. It is mandatory from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily except for those who meet one of the following exceptions:
- Has a disability placard displayed on their vehicle
- Are traveling with pets
- Conducting park-related business
- Organized commercial tour groups traveling in their own bus or van
- Are camping

Wright is the featured speaker at the New Mexico Wildlife Federation’s free “Wildlife Wednesday” event tonight, June 12 in Albuquerque.

The warmer weather we have been having recently will soon be moving trout to deeper water in our lakes and reservoirs. Fishing in the early mornings and evenings will be more productive soon. This will also be the case for warm water species like walleye and catfish.
Streamflows decreased or stayed relatively stable in the smaller streams of Northern New Mexico this past week. It is a little early but runoff may have peaked already. The streamflow levels dropped in the Pecos River and Jemez River.

Firefighters achieved 86% completion on the Indios Wildfire burning in the Coyote Ranger District, which has burned 11,500 acres as of today, June 9, 2024. This wildfire was first reported May 19, 2024, and is 7 miles north of the village of Coyote and burning within the Rio Chama Canyon Wilderness. The cause of the wildfire is lightning.
