Roadrunner Spotted At Residence In North Community
A roadrunner is spotted Saturday scanning the snowy backyard of a residence in North Community. This most famous bird of the southwest is known by its long tail and expressive crest. The Roadrunner walks and runs on the ground, flying only when necessary. It can run 15 miles per hour, probably with much faster spurts when chasing a fast-running lizard or other prey. SANTA FE — With the recent and forecast snow fall the Santa Fe National Forest continues pile burn projects across districts. The decision to proceed with each pile burn depends on multiple factors including persistent snowpack, air quality, ventilation, and resource availability.

NPS To Begin Prescribed Burns On San Antonio Mountain
NPS News:
JEMEZ SPRINGS — With good snow conditions, National Park Service (NPS) fire managers plan to start burning piles on 225 acres in the San Antonio Mountain Pile Unit of Valles Caldera National Preserve as early as Tuesday, Jan. 16.
Ignition operations are expected to take multiple days and daily acreage will depend on conditions.
So far this winter, fire crews have completed approximately 137 acres of pile-burning on the South Mountain Unit. These piles will continue to be monitored and an additional 170 acres may be burned if conditions allow.
