Stargaze Into Adventure: Dive Into Astronomy Basics At Los Alamos Nature Center Planetarium With PEEC

PEEC News:

The community is invited to visit the Los Alamos Nature Center planetarium for the Basics of Astronomy series in January. Starting Jan. 12, take a basic exploration of the stars and constellations of the night sky in the planetarium.

Participants will observe patterns in the night sky and listen to stories told by people around the world from before telescopes existed. Depending on the weather, we may also go outside to see what we can find in the Los Alamos night sky.

A group of passionate community members’ efforts paid off to make Los Alamos a Bee City USA affiliate; County Council unanimously approved 6-0 to adopt a resolution to support the Bee City certification during its regular meeting Tuesday night. Councilor Keith Lepsch was absent.

Adjustments Made To LANL Transmission Line Public Meeting … Weather Could Impact In-Person Accessibility

The National Nuclear Security Administration has made adjustments to the Thursday, Jan. 11, public meeting for the Los Alamos National Laboratory Electrical Power Capacity Upgrade Project Draft Environmental Assessment to accommodate crowd-size and a potential snowstorm.

County Environmental Services Closed Jan. 15 For MLK Day

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Environmental Services will be closed Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

This includes operations at the Eco Station and the Overlook Convenience Center. Residential and commercial trash and recycling collection service will also be suspended.

If Monday is your normal trash and recycle collection day, please place your roll carts out by 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan 17 for pick-up.
