Due to winter weather conditions for Thursday, Dec. 14, Los Alamos National Laboratory is on a delayed opening.
Those coming on-site should arrive between 10 a.m. and noon. Those who can telework should do so and charge regular time.

Los Alamos County On Delayed Opening Thursday
Los Alamos County Manager Steven Lynne has ordered a delayed opening of 10 a.m. for all non-essential County government employees on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, due to hazardous weather conditions.
Some County services and facilities may be impacted:
- Atomic City Transit fixed route service will begin at approximately 7 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023. For specific route information, visit www.atomiccitytransit.com, or check the ACTracker.
- The Aquatic Center plans to open at 10 a.m.
- The Ice Rink will have a delayed opening depending on weather conditions. An update will be provided

Trees were covered with golden leaves in October. These have fallen and blown away with the arrival of November. A new view of the landscape has become visible. Temperatures took a plunge in Northern New Mexico over the weekend. Below zero readings were not uncommon and low temperatures in the teens the standard.
The frigid conditions led to the closure of several popular fishing locations.
Eagle Nest Lake and Fenton Lake were both closed to ice fishing due to unsafe ice conditions. Both of these lakes are in State Parks. Park personnel will monitor the ice thickness and when it is deemed safe they will open for ice fishing.

Roaming Mexican Gray Wolf Asha Captured In New Mexico

SANTA FE — Government officials announced Monday that they have captured “Asha”, a young female Mexican wolf (#2754) who has twice this year journeyed into northern New Mexico.
Asha had been roaming without incident in the Jemez Mountains north of Interstate 40 since approximately Nov. 2, but because she was outside of the boundaries of the Mexican Wolf Experimental Population Area (“MWEPA”), government officials decided to trap her and take her into captivity again.
