Late Spring Bird Walk With PEEC 6:30 AM Saturday May 20

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is hosting a late-spring bird walk 6:30 a.m. Saturday, May 20.

Anyone curious about the birds seen around the Pajarito Plateau or who just love birding, this is the perfect opportunity to explore and learn. 

The walk will be led by local bird expert Bob Walker, who will guide the group along the Acid Canyon trail, a one-mile easy hike without any steep sections. The trail is the perfect location for spotting some of the amazing birds that call the Pajarito Plateau home.

The Summit Garden Club of Los Alamos has awarded its 2023 Pat Edmonds-Sue Graves scholarship to Ginnie (Gwendolyn) Pickett of Los Alamos. NMED Confirms Boil Water For Chama Water System

RIO ARRIBA COUNTY — The New Mexico Environment Department’s (NMED) Drinking Water Bureau (DWB) is confirming that a “boil water advisory” is required for the Chama Water System in Rio Arriba County.

Chama Water System was required to issue the advisory on May 10, 2023, after the water system notified NMED that the water system’s turbidity levels were above the required standards. Turbidity is a measure of the cloudiness of water, it is used to indicate water quality and filtration effectiveness.
