ALBUQUERQUE — Rainbow Ryders, the largest hot air balloon ride company in the United States, has renewed its contract as the official hot air balloon ride concessionaire with the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta (AIBF) for two more years, with two optional one-year extensions.

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) is providing guidance to water systems following the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) March 14, 2023 announcement of new proposed drinking water standards for Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS).

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe National Forest and the Tierra Y Montes Soil and Water Conservation District have agreed to jointly implement a pilot project to use virtual fencing on four range allotments impacted by the Hermits Peak – Calf Canyon Fire.
What is virtual fencing?
Virtual fencing is a GPS based livestock management system that relays virtual fence locations to livestock within a grazing allotment or pasture. The system uses base stations and electronic collars.

County Parks And Open Space Division Seeks Volunteers For Pueblo Canyon Overlook Cleanup On Earth Day April 22

The Los Alamos County Parks and Open Space Division is holding a Pueblo Canyon (Anderson) Overlook Cleanup on Earth Day, April 22.
This project will focus on cleaning up trash that has been accumulating underneath the Pueblo Canyon Overlook along N.M. 502 for years. Volunteers also may choose to help maintain the Tent Rocks Trail where water drains and a rock bridge is to be built.

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) is now accepting applications for fiscal year 2024 Recycling and Illegal Dumping (RAID) Fund grants for scrap tire management, illegal dumpsite abatement, recycling, and composting projects.
Municipalities, counties, pueblos, nations, tribes, solid waste authorities, cooperative associations (as defined in the RAID Act), and land grant communities are eligible for funding.
A total of $800,000 will be available in the upcoming fiscal year. Read More
