Santa Fe National Forest Offices Closed Thanksgiving Day

SANTA FE — All Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 24, in observance of Thanksgiving Day.

Forest offices will resume regular business hours Friday, Nov. 25.

If you opt for cutting your own Christmas tree over a turkey trot or Black Friday deals, this is a reminder that Christmas tree permits can be purchased online at Recreation.gov and in person at your local district office, including the new Jemez Ranger Station, or at SFNF Headquarters during regular business hours. JJAB: Donations Provide Winter Clothing For 26 Youth

JJAB News:

Los Alamos JJAB works closely with families in the Los Alamos community to facilitate resources for their needs during difficult times.

As part of this work, JJAB raises money each year from the community to buy winter jackets and boots for youth during the cold season.

This year JJAB raised $2100, which allowed them to provide winter clothes for 26 children and youth.

ESPAÑOLA — The Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Michael Connor joined the governors of two tribal nations Nov. 9, 2022 in signing a design agreement.

Gov. J. Patrick Aguino of Ohkay Owingeh and Gov. J. Michael Chavarria of Santa Clara Pueblo along with Connor signed design agreements with each pueblo for the Española Valley Ecosystem Restoration project during an official ceremony at the Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Lakes.

New Mexico Land Office Offering Low-Cost Christmas Tree Cutting & Sand Gathering Permits

SANTA FE — The New Mexico State Land Office announced Thursday that it is again offering low-cost Christmas tree-cutting and farolito sand-gathering permits on state trust land in advance of the upcoming holiday season.

Christmas tree-cutting permits are available for $10. The permitted area is east of Black Lake and South of Angel Fire. A limit of one tree, no taller than 15 feet, is allowed per permit.

Saturday, Nov. 19, the Los Alamos Kiwanis Club will be collecting and buying aluminum cans to be sent for recycling.
