Encouragement Elk Hunting Licenses On Sale July 10

SANTA FE New Mexico resident youth and senior hunters who applied and were unsuccessful in the 2019-2020 big game draw are eligible for nearly 1,900 antlerless elklicenses.
 
The licenses will go on sale through the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish’s Online License System at 10 a.m. MDT July 10.
 
The sale is designed to encourage unsuccessful applicants and includes almost 1,500 licenses for any legal sporting arm and 390 licenses for muzzleloader, crossbow or bow.

Schedule For 2019 Wilderness Hikes At Bandelier

A variety of wilderness hikes are available this summer and into October at Bandelier National Monument.

Reservations are required so call the Bandelier Visitor Center at 505.672.3861, ext. 517, to participate.

Participants must wear sturdy boots or hiking shoes and be in good physical condition to handle elevation gains in and out of the canyon. A House spending bill for federal agriculture, interior and environmental agencies (H.R. 3305) has passed with amendments that create new dedicated funding to research, test for, and battle chronic wasting disease, a fatal disease discovered in deer and elk populations across more than half the U.S.

BLM New Mexico Releases Notice For September 2019 Oil And Gas Lease Sale Of 16 Parcels

SANTA FE In keeping with the Administration’s goal of promoting American energy security, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) proposes to offer 16 parcels totaling nearly 3,214 acres at its September 2019 quarterly oil and gas lease sale.
 
The proposed parcels are located in Eddy, Lea, and Chaves counties in New Mexico; Greeley County, Kansas; and Coal and Major counties in Oklahoma.
 
The lease sale is scheduled to occur online at www.energynet.com Sept. 5, 2019. Publication of this sale notice starts a 10-day protest period that runs July 8-17, 2019.
