The community is invited to join Jon Hayes from Audubon New Mexico for a presentation on the conservation of birds in New Mexico at Nature On Tap 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 1 at projectY cowork Los Alamos.
Hayes will discuss the unique avian diversity found in the Land of Enchantment on species assemblages of three different habitat types:
- Pinyon-Juniper Woodlands;
- Riparian Forests; and
- Grasslands.

Abandoned Campfires Frustrate Crews

Courtesy photoLast weekend, fire prevention staff on the Santa Fe National Forest discovered more than 45 still-burning abandoned campfires … not including one last week on the Jemez Ranger District that grew into a 2-acre wildfire before three engine crews finally doused it.
