SANTA FE Gwynn Tank in the Gila National Forest in Western New Mexico received its first batch of 203, 10-inch Gila trout.
 
“Stocking Gila Trout in Gwynn Tank is part of the department’s long-term plan to provide recreation opportunities for this rare native trout in conjunction with ongoing recovery efforts,” said Jill Wick, supervisor of the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Colorado Basin Native Fish.

SANTA FE  Due to necessary maintenance, the Black Canyon Campground on the Espanola Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest will close Sept. 24 for the season, which ends Oct. 9.

WASHINGTON, D.C. Secretary of the Interior Ryan K. Zinke announced a $1.1 million distribution from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) to New Mexico for state-identified outdoor recreation and conservation projects.
