The Alamo Fire in the Jemez Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest at Forest Road 289 and within a half mile of the southern border of Bandelier Park is now 70 percent contained.
Start Date: May 23
Cause: Lightning
Size: 15 acres
Containment: 70%
Fuel: Grass, dead and down trees
Weather: South winds 15-20, gusts to 35 mph
Situation: Fire is burning within the Las Conchas burn area. Firefighters work to secure containment lines by extinguishing hot spots along the perimeter of the fire.
Smoke/Air Quality: Local communities may be impacted by smoke because of prevailing winds. Read More

Alamo Fire Evening Update
SFNF News:
The Alamo Fire in the Jemez Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest is 60 percent contained. Lightning sparked the fire Wednesday near Forest Road 289 within a half mile of the southern border of Bandelier National Monument. It has burned 15 acres of grass and dead and down trees.
Resources on scene include two Type 6 engines with eight personnel. The fire intensity is low and burning within the Las Conchas burn area.
