Los Alamos Under Red Flag Warning Until 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque reports that Los Alamos in under a red flag warning until 8 p.m. today.
 
A red flag warning is a forecast warning issued by the National Weather Service to inform area firefighting and land management agencies that conditions are ideal for wildland fire combustion, and rapid spread. 
 
The NWS also reports that Los Alamos will enter under a fire weather watch 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

Holy Ghost Canyon Road Closes For Repairs

SANTA FE  For public safety reasons, Forest Road 122 of Holy Ghost Canyon will close to vehicle access primarily for major road repairs beginning May 30.
 
The gate to the Holy Ghost Canyon will close to the public for about three weeks, which places the anticipated reopening around mid-June.

Alamo Fire Evening Update

SFNF News:

The Alamo Fire in the Jemez Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest is 60 percent contained. Lightning sparked the fire Wednesday near Forest Road 289 within a half mile of the southern border of Bandelier National Monument. It has burned 15 acres of grass and dead and down trees.

Resources on scene include two Type 6 engines with eight personnel. The fire intensity is low and burning within the Las Conchas burn area. Scouts Clean Up Sipapu―Ready To Kick Off Summer May 26

This past Saturday, Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort hosted the third annual Mountain Community Clean Up Day with the Boy Scouts of America Great Southwest Council. Boy Scout Troop 3 from Albuquerque, NM participated in this year’s event.
 
Troop 3 helped clean up the mountain in the Carson National Forest by combing the trails to pick up trash that’s accumulated over the winter ski season.
