PAJARITO ASTRONOMERS News:
The Pajarito Astronomers is holding a County-Sponsored Dark Night starting at 7:15 p.m. (sunset) Saturday, Sept. 16 at Spirio Soccer Field, Overlook Park in White Rock.
Weather permitting, the public is invited to come out, wander among the telescopes, and star gaze. Jupiter and its moons, Saturn with its rings and moons, Uranus and Neptune will potentially be visible during the evening.

Beeweed is nearing the end of its time to be blooming, but the ones in the Native Plant Garden behind the Banderlier National Monument Visitor Center still have some flowers. Cleome serrulata also is known as wild spinach (and lots of other names). Bandelier National Monument recently welcomed their newest seasonal ranger, Colonel (RET) Bob Loy.
Ranger Loy will serve as the Dorothy Hoard Wilderness Ranger at Bandelier. The position is sponsored by the Friends of Bandelier as a memorial to the founder of the organization, Dorothy Hoard, who was also instrumental in the designation of the Bandelier Wilderness.

PEEC News:Youth ages 6 to 10 will love exploring geology at the Los Alamos Nature Center in the Pebble Pups program, organized by the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC).
This program helps kids embark on a journey to learn about rocks, fossils, and local geology through active games and activities with Patrick Rowe of the Los Alamos Geological Society Denise Matthews, an experienced Pajarito Environmental Center (PEEC) Educator. The Pebble Pups school-year program meets one Tuesday a month and is perfect for new or returning Pebble Pups members.

Prescribed Burns Planned On Santa Fe National Forest

SFNF News:SANTA FE ― Fire managers on the Española Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) announced plans to take advantage of favorable fall conditions to conduct prescribed burns on approximately 4,000 acres.
