New Mexico COVID-19 Update Jan. 27: 5,179 New Cases, Totaling 465,244 With 34 Deaths & 334,988 Recovered

SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials Thursday announced 5,179  additional COVID-19 cases.

Los Alamos County reported 32 new cases today, bringing the total to 2,237 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

Nursing and hospital leaders repeatedly used the word “crisis” Thursday to describe New Mexico’s” shortage of nurses.

They spoke to the Senate Finance Committee to request additional money to train more nurses and expand nursing faculty positions at the state’s colleges and universities to accommodate more students.
