STATE News:SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials announced 7,313 new COVID-19 cases between Friday Dec. 31, 2021 and Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.
Los Alamos County reported 92 new cases between Dec. 31 and Jan. 4, bringing the total to 1,126 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
This update includes 11 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19 and a 7-Day positivity rate of 17.9 percent.

In an unfortunate twist of fate, schools in New Mexico are set to reopen just as the Omicron variant has dramatically appeared. The number of COVID cases in the US is climbing rapidly.
