New Mexico COVID-19 Update: 1,166 New Cases, Totaling 279,670, 12 New Deaths, 245,770 Recovered

SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials Wednesday announced 1,166 additional COVID-19 cases.
Los Alamos County reported 1 new case Wednesday, bringing the total to 810 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
This update includes 12 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:
- 272 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 5 new cases in Catron County
- 36 new cases in Chaves County

DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Nets Nearly 745,000 Pounds Of Unneeded Medications

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), along with its law enforcement partners, has removed nearly 745,000 pounds of unneeded prescriptions from medicine cabinets across the country as part of DEA’s ongoing commitment to turn the tide against the U.S. opioid epidemic.
Following last month’s 21st National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, the program has removed more than 15.2 million pounds of medication from circulation since its inception.
