New Mexico Health Department Issues Two Orders Temporarily Limiting Non-Essential Surgeries; Recognizing Activation Of Crisis Care

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) today announced two new public health emergency orders in response to the ongoing public health crisis in New Mexico and resulting unsustainable strain on health care providers and hospitals:

  • Temporarily limiting non-essential surgeries; and
  • Recognizing the activation of “crisis care” standards by outlining credentialing processes for COVID-19 health care providers.

Effective today, Dec. 8, the Betty Ehart Senior Center at 1101 Bathtub Row in Los Alamos is closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19.

Contact tracing has been initiated and is being conducted by director at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

Home delivery meals scheduled for today, Dec. 8 in Los Alamos are canceled, but will resume Wednesday, Dec. 9 from the White Rock Senior Center.

Environment Department COVID-19 Watchlist Update: Dec. 7

The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) has updated its daily Rapid Response COVID-19 Watchlist, which includes New Mexico places of employment that have had two or more rapid responses in the last 14 days.

There are 148 establishments on the Watchlist.

LAPS: Update On Small Group Instruction

With a focus on safety and student well-being, the Los Alamos School Board paused Hybrid Learning in elementary schools until Jan. 18, 2021.
