NNSA, LANL Given Okay To Depressurize Containers

The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Los Alamos Field Office and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) received Temporary Authorization from the New Mexico Environment Department to safely perform the controlled depressurization of headspace gas from four flanged tritium waste containers at LANL’s Technical Area 54, Area G.

Community Invited To Tour Trinity Site Ground Zero Oct. 18

Don’t miss the fascinating Trinity Site Tour! The Trinity Site is where the first atomic bomb was detonated on 5:29:45 a.m. Mountain War Time July 16, 1945, as part of the Manhattan Project. There, you will walk around Ground Zero of the first atomic bomb (the Gadget), and you will take a shuttle to the McDonald Ranch House, where the plutonium core was assembled.

Tours to the public only occur once a year, and this bus tour is nearly sold out.
