FBI: Sanostee Woman Charged For 2022 Assault

ALBUQUERQUE — A Sanostee woman is facing multiple federal charges after allegedly using a rifle to seriously injure one individual and threaten another during an Aug. 2022 incident.

According to court documents, on Aug. 20, 2022, Leticia Washburn, 41, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, assaulted John Doe 1 and John Doe 2 with a rifle, causing serious bodily injury to John Doe 1.

Lincoln County Flood Victims Have Until July 28 To Replace Lost SNAP Benefits

NMHCA News:

SANTA FE — Lincoln County residents who lost food due to flooding have 10 days remaining to request emergency replacement of their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.   

The deadline for reporting food losses is Monday, July 28.   

The New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) is providing this emergency support to help families recover from fire-related damages. Replacement benefits are available for SNAP households in ZIP codes 88345, 88346, 88355.

Second Judicial District Court Operations In Albuquerque Changing Due To Security Staff Cutbacks

ALBUQUERQUE — In response to reduced security staffing, the Second Judicial District Court will change its operations on Monday to limit the number of people entering the county courthouse in downtown Albuquerque and two other court locations.

The state Supreme Court ordered the operational changes at the district court.

Laguna Wildfire Update July 20: Increased Smoke Expected As Firefighters Work To Contain Blaze, 55% Contained

The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) has released the July 20 update on the lightning-caused Laguna Wildfire, which sparked on June 25. It has consumed 16,713 acres in the Coyote Ranger District, 8 miles north of N.M. 96 and west of the Chama River Canyon Wilderness.

New Mexico Tourism Dept. Awards $3.8 Million To 45 Entities Through Cooperative Marketing Grant Program For FY26

NMTD News:

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Tourism Department (NMTD) is awarding $3.8 million in grant funding to 45 entities, including $109,000 to Los Alamos County, through the Cooperative Marketing Grant Program for fiscal year 2026.

NMTD will again be instituting a 2-to-1 funding match for FY26, meaning the financial commitment from NMTD is double what grant partners are contributing for the fiscal year.
