Who Is The Holy Spirit
By Maryann Blackhart

Another holiday weekend—hooray! Nothing to do? We have lots to do at Trinity on the Hill’s Generations service at 6:07 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 10 starting with a free dinner at 5:15 p.m. in Kelly Hall. We provide free daycare, too.

Stop for a moment and imagine what it would be like to see the world through the eyes of a 5-year-old child. What do you see? Or perhaps you see God in a sunset or in a stranger who helps another. God is the same from the beginning to now and beyond.God’s nature as the Father, Son, and Holy Read More

Taos County Historical Society Holds Reception and Signing for ‘Taos: A Topical History’

TCHS News:

In the 1950s Frank Waters observed, “For a tiny hinterland community that has never heard the whistle of a train, (Taos’s) impact has been exceeded by a few metropolitan communities.”

Surprisingly, the last full-length book to attempt the history of this storied town is Blanch C. Grant’s 1934 When Old Trails Were New. That was almost 80 years ago. Now, there is a new book that fills the need for a substantial new account of this place, where three cultures–Tiwa, Spanish and Anglo–have shared land, water, and traditions continuously for at least 700 years.

By Patricia A. Combs, M.D.

Dear Patients, Colleagues, and Friends:

I have made the difficult decision to close my medical practice, effective Dec. 31, 2013.

I will be joining a larger, private-practice group in southern New Mexico where I will be able to resume a full-time obstetric and gynecologic practice with shared call coverage. I have missed delivering babies, and the special bonding that occurs when participating in such a special time for families.

Letter to the Editor: Ashley Pond Is Real Success Story

By TOM SANDFORD
Los Alamos

On March 13, 2009, I wrote a letter to the Parks and Recreation Board members and the County Administrator about the sad state of Ashley Pond and what an eyesore it presented to the public.

Getting no response, I expressed my concern to the County Administrator and the County Counselors on April 13, 2009. Nona Bowman and Robert Gibson both immediately expressed support, and, along with many other unknown (to me) citizens, got the County moving on a plan to rescue Ashley Pond from its continuing deterioraton.

Once the County accepted the challenge, they did a wonderful Read More

Letter to the Editor: The School Employee with Low Expectations

By DAVID STRAATE
Los Alamos

Let me tell you about a woman I know.  She walks through the door each morning and her heart immediately fills the whole room. She smiles, hugs crying children, and runs copy after copy.  When an emergency arrives, she takes over any lesson and executes it so well I fear for my job security.

She works outside of school hours, coming up with project ideas. She spends some of the little money she has to buy gifts for the students on holidays. The kids love her like an aunt, and run to her when she enters the room.

She adds so much to the life of everybody she touches Read More
