Registration Opens for YMCA Dance Classes

Registration is now open for October Dance Classes at The Family YMCA.
The YMCA will be having an Open House for the Hip Hop for Kids class 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Flooding Closes Areas of SFNF Through Dec. 30

Recent heavy rainfall in the Pecos/Las Vegas area of the Santa Fe National Forest has required that certain roads and sites be closed for public safety.
Several forest roads are impassible due to washouts, debris such as trees and branches along roadways, and plugged culverts. There are also a few bridges that were jammed up with debris and sustained damage.
Forest personnel continue to assess the damage but are unable to reach some areas due to impassable roads. Clearing of debris has begun in some areas but this may take some time depending on the amount Read More
Prescribed Burns Planned on Santa Fe National Forest

The Santa Fe National Forest is planning a prescribed fire on the Coyote Ranger District within the next seven days.
The Mesa Camino burn may start as early as tomorrow (Sunday.) If conditions don’t allow that burn to be successful, they may burn in the Gallina area instead. Planned benefits from these burns: reduce hazardous fuels, break up continuous fuels, prepare the land for new growth, help plants and trees to grow healthier, improve wildlife habitat.
