Woman Sought by Police Remains on the Lam

Los Alamos Police Detectives continue searching for the woman who has been on the lam since Sept. 17.
Irene Quintana, 49, of Chamita is wanted on a warrant with two felony charges: Distribution of a Controlled Substance and Conspiracy. Quintana is suspected of attempting to send controlled substances through the mail into the Los Alamos County Jail earlier this month.

New Solid Waste and Recycling Fees in Los Alamos County
COUNTY News:
On Aug. 27, Los Alamos County Council passed new rates for the Environmental Services Division. The approved new rates will go into effect Sept. 30.
These new rates will adjust a variety of fees currently charged at the Los Alamos County Eco Station and fees charged for roll-off services. The changes will not impact monthly residential solid waste fees or commercial dumpster fees.

Edgar Davis Bush Jr., 81, of Los Alamos, N.M. died on September 22, 2013. “Ed” was born on January 1, 1932 in Morenci, Ariz. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, son Mike and wife Donna of Chandler, Ariz., his grandson Matthew and wife Maureen and his great grandson Declan of Renton, Wash. He was preceded in death by his grandson Danny.
He was taken from us after a 9 month battle with cancer. Ed’s full life ended peacefully with his wife and son by his side.

FBI Searches for Bank Robbery Suspect

The FBI and Albuquerque Police Department are looking for a man who robbed Western Commerce Bank, 1910 Wyoming Blvd NE, Tuesday.
The suspect is described as a white male, age ranging from 25 into his 30s, approximately 6′ to 6’2″ tall, with a slender build, shoulder-length dark brown hair, a brown goatee, and tattoos on both arms. He wore a black T-shirt with a gray skull design, and black pants.

A Blacklight Dodgeball Tournament for teenagers, which includes a chance to win a free iPad Mini, is being held 6-10 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Los Alamos (FBCLA), 2200 Diamond Dr.

The living dead will invade Pojoaque for the Third Annual Pojoaque Zombie Walk and the first ever Pojoaque Zombie Prom. It’s free to participate and or to come and watch. The scary doings will take place Saturday Oct. 26.

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities Officials reported that power was fully restored by Monday to the many customers who lost electricity following Sunday’s storm.
High wind, rain and lightning caused multiple outages Sunday evening throughout the Los Alamos town site. DPU electric lineman worked around the clock until Monday morning.
Reported Sunday at 7:10 p.m., crews responded to an outage in the 35th and 38th Street neighborhood and repaired a blown fuse. Power was restored by 7:23 p.m. to the 60 affected customers.
