Letter to the Editor: Protest Against Slanted Reporting of Nuclear Weapons Issues
Protest Against Slanted Reporting of Nuclear Weapons IssuesThis is a protest against the consistently slanted reporting of the Los Alamos Monitor on nuclear weapons issues. It appears that the Monitor takes pleasure in attacking the foundation of this town’s existence and deriding its proud history of supporting the nation’s defense. I am open to balanced criticism and, although I do not agree, I can respect intelligent advocacy of the abolition of nuclear weapons. However, I am disgusted by the extensive quoting of anti-nuclear ideologues who are treated Read More

Money IQ: True Stories – A Credit Card Dispute Lost and Won
Money IQ
Note: This column is a real-life example of a credit card dispute commonly referred to as a “dispute of quality.” This is a dispute about the quality of goods and services received. The other type of dispute is a billing error dispute. Billing error disputes are fairly straight forward and are regulated by the Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA.) The FCBA rules and rights do not apply if you are disputing the quality of goods and services. Over the years, I have spoken with people that have a false sense of security when using their Read More

Study Explains Acceleration of Greenland’s Inland Ice

AGU News:
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Surface meltwater draining through cracks in an ice sheet can warm the sheet from the inside, softening the ice and letting it flow faster, a new study finds.
During the last decade, researchers have captured compelling evidence of accelerating ice flow at terminal regions, or “snouts,” of Greenland glaciers as they flow into the ocean along the western coast. Now, the new research shows that the interior regions are also flowing much faster than they were in the winter of 2000-2001, and the study authors propose a reason for the Read More

The Pain Free Athlete: Reduce Lower Back Pain by Increasing Hip Mobility
Jessica Kisiel
Many of my posture alignment clients suffer from painful lower back conditions – sciatica, bulging or herniated discs, SI joint dysfunction, stenosis, etc.
Upon examination I find that their hips have restricted movement. The hips and lower back are connected though the pelvis. Your hip muscles attach to the pelvis from below and the lower back muscles attach to the pelvis from above. Tight hips can lead to compensations in the back that can cause pain and injury.

Somethings Wrong With Plane’s Return Schedule … Speak Up Now

COUNTY News:
Ridership, load factors, passengers per week for the Los Alamos Commercial Air Service show signs of positive growth although at a slower pace than last month.

The flight schedule was changed four weeks ago to increase ridership on early morning and early Read More

Since 2009, Udall has called on the Senate to reform its rules – including by requiring a talking filibuster.
