Residents Reminded to Keep Sidewalks Clear

COUNTY News:

During the winter months, the County would like to remind residents that it is important to keep sidewalks clear of snow and ice so that they remain pass­able for postal workers, children walking to school and others who need to use them.

When possible, and depend­ing upon available resources, County crews will conduct sidewalk-clearing operations by removing snow first from the adopted “safe routes to school” and then move to other selected sidewalks. The County does not clear every sidewalk due to limited resources.

NMDOT Update on N.M. 502

NMDOT News:

The New Mexico Department of Transportation reports that N.M. 502 is open at the present time.

 

Inclement weather forced the closure of N.M. 502 for a short time earlier today.
 
Because the situation can change at anytime, NMDOT is asking motorists to check with nmroads.com before traveling to determine which roads are closed.

Motorists Urged to Stay Home Today

LAPD News:

With this morning’s snowstorm creating dangerous conditions on local roadways, Los Alamos Police are urging motorists to stay home if possible.

Police report that so far they have not encountered vehicle accidents but they are inundated with reports of vehicles stuck in the snow.

County Clarifies Today’s Facility Closure Information

All County facilities close at noon today including the Administrative Offices, the 311 Center, plus County recreation/community centers such as the Aquatic Center, Los Alamos Golf Course, the Ice Rink and the Los Alamos and White Rock public libraries.

Transit will make its last transit run at noon to White Rock, Barr Mesa, North Mesa, etc., with no additional Transit services after that last noon time run.

Trash trucks will complete trash pick up but not recycle pick up today. The Eco Station closes at noon. Read More

Park and Ride Alert: N.M. 502 Closure Alters Bus Routes

NMDOT PARK AND RIDE ALERT: BLUE, GREEN, PURPLE ROUTES – ROAD CLOSURE- EFFECTIVE FRIDAY, DEC. 14, 2012.
 
Inclement weather has forced the closure of N.M. 502. As a result, the following buses will not be able to complete their routes.
 
Blue Route:
  • Departing the South Capitol Station at 6:45 a.m.
  • Departing the South Capitol Station at 7:47 a.m.
  • Departing the Mesa Public Library at 8 a.m.
  • Departing Mesa Public Library at 8:52 a.m.
 
Green Route:
  • Departing Espanola at 7:32am
  • Departing Mesa Public Library at 8:12 a.m.
 
Purple Route:
  • Departing NM 599 Station at 7:31a.m.
