Fr. Glenn: Choosing Allegiances

By Father Glenn Jones:

If you’ve ever seen Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, you’ll remember the episode when the Nazi collaborator receives from a number of cups the one he thought was the Holy Grail—the cup of Christ at the Last Supper—and drank from it, expecting to receive immortality. Whoops; wrong one. He aged and was pulverized immediately, upon which the ancient knight quips: “He chose…poorly.” Yeah … thanks for the tip. (VIDEO)

We all make a gazillion choices during each day—what to eat, what to wear, work decisions, etc. We decide by what we believe benefits us the most. Will this route Read More

HAN: TRIAD, Let My Brothers And Sisters Work

By CLIFF HAN
Los Alamos

WWII was the most devastating and destructive wars of all time. It began when Adolph Hitler took power at a time when Germany was economically and politically unstable. He invaded Poland, and made treaties with Italy and Japan to enhance his ability to dominate the entire world and proceeded to murder 6 million Jews in what he called the “final solution”.

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) was established when the world’s leading scientists wanted to create a weapon that would put an end to Hitler’s plan and the unspeakable devastation of the war.

Fr. Glenn: My Guardian Dear

By Fr. Glenn Jones:

The subject of angels often captivates people. There’s actually quite a number of references to angels in the Bible—315 by my BibleGateway concordance count, the number probably depending on the translation. But from cover to cover our angel guides are there—from Genesis to Revelation—just as they are from “cover to cover” of our lives.

Now, every October 2nd is a day we Catholics celebrate our guardian angels—spiritual protectors and guides we believe is given by God to each of us per Jesus words: “…do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you that in heaven their  Read More

Fr. Glenn: You Don’t Waste Good

By Fr. Glenn Jones:

Anyone a fan of the original NCIS has heard Special Agent Gibbs’ rule: “You don’t waste good.”

That simple phrase can be interpreted in several ways. In the immediate “Gibbsian” sense: If you’re good at something, don’t waste your gift. We teach kids this in guiding them toward courses of study, careers and vocations. For instance, If you’re good at math, look at something that requires math—science, accounting, etc. If you’re a good writer, maybe composition work of some sort is for you. If you find yourself gravitating toward the spiritual, maybe some sort of employ by your Read More

Fr. Glenn: Standing Fast

By Fr. Glenn Jones:

Hmm … equinox this week, and so autumn begins this week. Ah, spring and autumn—favorite times of the year … the first showcasing beauty of new life, and the autumn foliage an analogy for Christians of the inevitability of death, and yet with anticipation and faith of future resurrection.

Well, the kids are all firmly ensconced and absorbed with their classes by now. We certainly hope this year has lesser disruption than last when COVID burst upon the scene. Cheers to the teachers who had to do all the remote teaching, and at times remote and in-class teaching.

That came to mind with Read More

Fr. Glenn: Short Memories

By Father Glenn Jones:

Well, the 9/11 memorials are winding down now after the 20th anniversary of that tragic day. They’ll continue, of course … for a few years, at least … but less and less as the years and decades pass. That’s just the way of things.  Fewer and fewer people will be alive to remember that day—the emotions, the pain, the outrage. Remember the silence in cities when all planes were grounded and/or diverted to Canada? We need only look at December 7; it seems hardly noticed anymore. It would be interesting to poll high school students to know how many even know the significance of that Read More

Fr. Glenn: Laboring For The Good

By Fr. Glenn Jones

I hate shopping. A lot of people are like that … exacerbated these days by the fact that you can order pretty much everything online and have it delivered to your door. But … I’d never been to a Costco before, so yesterday I thought I’d do a little reconnaissance to see if they had anything that I could use. Uhhhh … wow. Just … wow. I’d been to Sam’s before, but … dang!

I couldn’t help but recall videos of foreigners from impoverished countries entering our stores and being utterly flabbergasted … or suspicious, wondering if it was a propaganda “show” store.  Nope; these types of Read More
