You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you

Unitarian Church Features Blockbuster Film Series
The Unitarian Church of Los Alamos kicked off its Summer Blockbuster series Saturday with a screening of ‘Arrival’. The screening was followed by a sermon of the film’s themes Sunday. Rev. John Cullinan explained the series has been held for 10 summers. He got the idea from another Unitarian minister but ‘I’m a huge movie fan’, Cullinan said. He added that the Unitarian Church pulls its messages fron everywhere, including pop culture. ‘Nothing is just fluff,’ Cullinan said. Three more films will be screened during the series. The next one is ‘Moana’ Read More

Fr. Glenn: Making A Joyful Noise
By Rev. Glenn Jones“Dour”: a word meaning sullen or gloomy … severe or stern. Synonyms: bleak, dismal, dreary, forbidding, sour, surly. Ugly. Hmmm … sounds charming.
It seems that one can encounter a lot of dour people. Not sure why. After all, as the old saying goes: What fun it that? Certainly there can be involuntary dourness due to psychological conditions; I don’t mean those. But some simply don’t like to have to deal with other people. Some introverted may use dourness as a “shields up!” defense. Some are on the lookout to being offended

UCLA News:Fr. Glenn: Our Sacred Honor
By Rev. Glenn JonesOur Sacred Honor
Everyone be safe this holiday, especially with the fireworks. We’ve already had one major fire near us this year (Cajete); that’s more than enough! Watch those campfires, too!
As we celebrate Independence Day this week, it’s a time for reflection and thanksgiving. This year, of course, we have a new president—some say for good, some say for ill. But that which all should give thanks for concerning such a change is the peaceful transfer of power and governing—a method of government and transition arguably Read More

Fr. Glenn: Where Your Treasure Lay
By Rev. Glenn JonesAnother weekend. Where are those classifieds?
One thing I like to do on weekends is to haunt the garage/yard/estate sales. I usually don’t do much more than take up space, because I’m too cheap to buy much (I think my highest purchase to date is $20). Seems like there’s always some little thing that we need here at the church or at the rectory that I can get for 10 percent of full price (or less) at those sales.
And yet … one of the things that always strikes me—especially at larger estate sales—is the ephemeral nature of our earthly Read More

Pet Palooza Offers Week Day Fun
Tom Wyant shows a snake to some curious youngsters this week during the Pet Palooza event Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Christian Church on East Road. With the exception of the snakes, real animals were left at home in favor of stuffed animals. The Pet Palooza featured a petting zoo, games and food. The event was a chance for people to ‘get to know their neighbors all in the name of love’. Photo by Kirsten Laskey/ladailypost.com
