Los Alamos Youth Lacrosse is Back: Join the Nation’s Fastest Growing Sport!

Los Alamos Youth Lacrosse (LAYLAX) is looking for players and volunteers for the Spring, 2013 season. Lacrosse is currently the fastest growing sport in the country, and LAYLAX is working on growing the lacrosse community in Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico. 

LAYLAX was started by a small group of volunteers who worked to bring lacrosse to Los Alamos for the first time. The group met over the summer and fall of 2011, applied for and received an equipment grant from US Lacrosse, and was able to get the program up and running for its first season last spring.

Guided Hike at Valles Caldera this President’s Day

Join Los Amigos de Valles Caldera on a two-mile guided snowshoe hike of Cerro la Jara at the Valles Calder Preserve. The hike will take place 10 a.m – noon, President’s Day, Feb. 18.

The group will meet at the Valle Grande Staging Area for registration, snowshoe rentals, and hot refreshments. Arrive as early as 9 a.m. to secure snowshoes, as equipment is limited.

Adult rentals are $15 and youth rentals are $10. The cost is  $20 for Los Amigos members and $25 for non-members. The fee includes full-day trail permit.

The date has changed for the INCAA/NAA Athletic College Eligibility Presentation being held for any student/parents (incoming 9th thru 11th grade) who think their child will participate in college athletics.
