The results of Tuesday night’s Primary Election leave a field of four Democrats facing Four Republicans in the November race for four available seats on the Los Alamos County Council.

Tuesday’s 2014 Primary Election has come to a close and the candidates are beginning to weigh in on the results. Heinrich Issues Statement On EPA Proposal To Reduce Carbon Dioxide Emissions

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., a member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and the Senate Climate Action Task Force, released the following statement on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) new plan to limit carbon dioxide pollution across the country for existing power plants.

The proposal aims to reduce carbon emissions nationwide by an average of 30 percent over 2005 levels by 2030, with different specific targets for each state.

WIPP: Tests Begin in Preparation for Filter Change Out

WIPP News:

Workers began Friday the process to test underground ventilation fans to verify that airflow can be safely reduced during the filter replacement process. New filters are required to replace those that have been capturing material since the Feb. 5 fire and Feb. 14 radiation event.

Workers are replacing the filters in phases so that exhaust air leaving the underground facility will continue to be filtered during the activity. This is the first filter replacement to be done at WIPP, and workers will be assisted by experts from the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site. Replacement Read More
