Corrections Department Eliminates Overnight Visits

SANTA FE—In an effort to continue to provide opportunities for inmates to reconnect with their families, the New Mexico Corrections Department has made changes to its family visit policy.
The department has decided to eliminate overnight family visits effective May 1. Only a small portion of the nearly 7,000 inmates in the Corrections Department qualified for overnight family visits.

Residents Asked to Sign Petition To Ban Trapping

Trap Free New Mexico (TFNM) is asking residents to sign a petition here to ban animal trapping in New Mexico.
TFNM is a coalition of citizens, conservation organizations and animal welfare groups who oppose the cruel, damaging and dangerous practice of trapping in New Mexico. Under-regulated and outdated, traps put citizens, pets and non-target species at risk, including the endangered Mexican gray wolf.

RTD Adds Buses to Accommodate Chimayo Pilgrams on Good Friday, April 18

The North Central Regional Transit District is adding additional buses along its Española to Chimayo route to accommodate people making the annual pilgrimage to El Santuario de Chimayo on Good Friday, April 18.
Two ADA accessible buses will run on a continuous loop 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., throughout the day (the first bus begins at 8 a.m. and the second at 8:30 a.m.) departing from the RTD stop on the north side of the Big Rock Phillips 66 Station in front of the Santa Claran Hotel.
