New Mexico Supreme Court Resolves Question Of Civil Liability Of 911 Emergency Dispatchers

SANTA FE — The state Supreme Court today clarified the protections that New Mexico law provides to 911 dispatchers and their governmental employers from being sued for damages for personal injuries or deaths allegedly caused by their response to an emergency call for help.
The Court unanimously concluded that the state Enhanced Medical Services Act (EMSA) governed the liability issue and that 911 dispatchers were immune from civil liability except for damages caused by negligence. Community Invited To ‘Dark Night’ At Overlook Park April 26
COUNTY News:
The Pajarito Astronomers Club is hosting County-sponsored “Dark Night” observing sessions through September at Overlook Park in White Rock.
These sessions are free and open to the public and occur once a month (on a Saturday evening near a new moon) when Los Alamos County turns off all the athletic field lights at the park.
A typical session will have 15-50 people looking through 4-6 telescopes, viewing galaxies, planets, star clusters, the moon and much more. Weather permitting, observing sessions start at sunset and end before midnight.

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) will participate in the spring DEA Drug Take Back Day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26.
The event will be held in the Justice Center North Parking Lot adjacent to LAPD.
