Bandelier Centennial Logo Deadline Extended

A few weeks ago Bandelier National Monument sent out a call to artists to submit entries for the logo for the park’s Centennial Celebration. The deadline for entries has now been extended to Thursday, March 26.
 
Bandelier was established Feb. 11, 1916, and the staff are looking forward to a festive Centennial year.

The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) will be offering a unique landscape photography class that allows students to explore areas of the Valles Caldera National Preserve, which are normally closed to the general public.
 
Southwest Landscape Photography at the Valles Caldera is offered through UNM-LA Community Education 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Valles Caldera National Preserve. The cost for the class is $80.

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico’s Third District has announced details for this year’s Congressional Art Competition.
 
This annual competition allows members of Congress to display the talent and creativity of their high school constituents. The winning entry from each Congressional district will be displayed as part of an exhibit in the United States Capitol for one year. The winner will travel to Washington, D.C. for a reception honoring the national winners.

Bless Me, Ultima, Rudolfo Anaya’s dramatization of his acclaimed novel, returns to the National Hispanic Cultural Center as the seventh production in the NHCC’s ongoing Siembra: Latino Theatre Festival.

Artists Sought For 2015 Los Alamos Art Studio Tour

ART News:

Calling all Los Alamos artists! Last year, after a long hiatus, a group of artists decided to get the artist studio tour going again.

Sixteen artists participated in the 2014 tour and it had visitors come from all over northern New Mexico and from the Balloon Fiesta to see what Los Alamos had to offer. Now that the word is out that the tour is happening again, it’s sure to bring in even bigger crowds to the area, organizers said.

The 2015 Studio Tour is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18. There will be an artist’s reception 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16. Read More

Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) nurtures culture and arts in the community. Starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at Fuller Lodge, the non-profit organization is hoping for support to continue its mission by doing what it does best celebrating the arts in a variety of forms.
