Authors Speak Series Hosts Photographer and Author Don Usner

Mesa Public Library Art Gallery presents seventy remarkable photographic portraits by Don Usner of participants in the Lannan Foundation’s Readings and Conversations literary series of the last 15 years. All the portraits are black and white and eloquently reveal the personality of each author.

The exhibition is open to the public this month, and at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 Don Usner will be guest speaker for the monthly Authors Speak event. Both an author and photographer, he will discuss his experience meeting and photographing the Lannan authors as well as his own books.

Treasures From Vault Exhibit Opens at Millicent Rogers Museum

Atomic City Children’s Theater Holds Auditions for Disney Aladdin, Jr.

Atomic City Children’s Theater (ACCT), the Los Alamos Public Schools’ award winning after-school theater program, is excited to announce auditions for their Mid-School production of Disney Aladdin, Jr., a two-act musical play based on the full-length movie of the same name.

Auditions will be held in the Mountain Elementary gym 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16. The auditions are open to any 7th or 8th grade students in the Los Alamos area. Registration begins at noon.

What causes someone to become a whistleblower? Novelist William C. Sailor draws on his 23 years of experience at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) to explore that question, among others, in “Fat Boy and the Money Bomb.”

Sailor holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Science from UC Berkeley. Now retired from LANL, he lives in Rio Rancho.
