‘Tri Tri Tri Again’ Reflects Artistic Side of Number Three

Fuller Lodge Art Center is celebrating the number three. For those mathematically challenged, not to worry – this is no number-crunching exhibit.

Rather, the newest gallery show features a host of diverse and beautiful interpretations of the theme – “Tri Tri Tri Again.”

Dance Arts Los Alamos Hosts Dancer’s Resale and Open House; Announces Fall Classes

DALA News:

Dance Arts Los Alamos (DALA) will kick off its 2012-2013 year with the Dancer’s Resale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the White Rock Studios at 111 Longview Dr. in White Rock. 

An Open House will be held noon to 4 p.m. for families new to DALA, or anyone who has questions about classes or needs assistance with the registration process.

DALA has expanded its class offerings again this year and is offering more than 45 classes at its three studios located in both Los Alamos and White Rock.

Summer Art Camp Ensures Artistry Never Stops

Fuller Lodge Art Center calls its Summer Art Camp “The Best Six Weeks of Summer” for children from Los Alamos, surrounding communities and even foreign countries. Courtesy photo

This summer 80 to 100 students age 4 through 6 grade filled the classrooms at Fuller Lodge Art Center on Central Avenue each week, while teens met for classes at Village Arts on DP Road.

Whether painting, drawing, sculpting, dying yarn and knitting or creating things from recycled materials, these young artists were exploring their creativity with enthusiasm and laughter. Read More

The “Scale of Justice” sculpture created by Jemez Springs artist Troy Williams was installed today in front of the Justice Center at 2500 Trinity Dr. 

The Arts in Public Places Board (APPB) and Los Alamos County plan to hold an official dedication of the sculpture at 3 p.m., Aug. 22.

This sculpture displays 12 jurors from all walks of life, based on actual community members. They are made of steel as is the scale on which they stand.

Gadbois Selected to Create Mural at UNM-Los Alamos

The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos has commissioned Santa Fe artist Nick Gadbois to create a work of art for the UNM-LA campus.

The Local Selection Committee at UNM-LA sought to commission a work that would connect the campus and the Los Alamos community as well as conceptually relate to science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
